As a developer, I'm constantly seeking ways to enhance the user experience through technology. One area ripe for improvement? Screen management. Glaring screens at night, struggling to find the perfect brightness balance - these are common frustrations.

Enter my latest project: a user-friendly screen assistant designed to optimize your visual comfort on Windows.

Effortless Screen Control

This assistant empowers you to control your screen’s brightness and night mode settings with ease. Here’s how it works:

  1. Natural Language Brightness Control: Simply say things like “increase brightness” or “make it dimmer” to adjust the screen’s luminosity to your preference.
  2. Night Mode and Day Mode Toggle: Feeling the strain of nighttime screen glare? Ask the assistant to “turn on night mode” for a warmer color temperature. Conversely, for a bright and focused daytime experience, say “turn on day mode.”
Behind the scenes, the assistant leverages the adjust_brightness tool. This tool allows for precise control over brightness levels and night mode settings.

Beyond Functionality

A core principle of this project is user-friendliness. By understanding natural language, the assistant eliminates the need for complex commands or navigating system menus.

The assistant also provides polite confirmation messages, informing you if the brightness adjustment or night mode change was successful.

A Glimpse into the Future: Potential Enhancements

This project serves as a springboard for exciting advancements. Integration with smart home devices could enable control over screen settings from anywhere in the room. Additionally, implementing automatic adjustments based on ambient light or time of day could further optimize the user experience.
